Northampton Reflections
An art exhibit presented by The Hilltown Plein Air Painters
The Hilltown Plein Air Painters are excited to participate in Forbes Library’s 125th anniversary year with an exhibit titled “Northampton Reflections” to be held at the Hosmer Gallery during the month of November.
This collection of plein air paintings was inspired by the Hosmer’s 2019 Call for Artists, which challenged us to examine what is important and binds us together as a community. For artists living in nearby hilltowns, Northampton is where we go for many of life’s events; for entertainment, shopping, celebrations, inspiration and study. The paintings in this collection are a direct result of that challenge.

Steve Shelasky, nature photographs
Marla Shelasky, woven paintings
Steve, a former business man in Northampton and currently of Longmeadow, has been taking nature photos all his adult life and has gained local and national recognition. He is well known among Pioneer Valley birders, has won accolades from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and has a number of photos chosen for nature calendars.
Marla, raised and currently working in Northampton, has made a career in marketing and communications, including graphic design and illustration, while continuing to pursue a love of drawing and textile painting. Her recent work is a series of woven paintings — the merging of two acrylic paintings on paper.
