Sat 7/7 Interdependence Day @ Pulaski Park 10am-4pm
CIRCLE UP FOR THE EARTH on Interdependence Day!The third annual Interdependence Day Parade and Celebration will be held on July 7th at 1PM at Pulaski Park in Northampton, Massachusetts. Giant puppets, music, and audience participation will be woven into what MuZen Theater event producers Beth Fairservis and Stephen Katz are calling “Circle Up for the Earth”. Through meditation, community council, spontaneous theater and song, Circle Up participants are guided to rebalance individual and collective relationships with Life on Earth. The community is encouraged to contribute to the Circle Up by arriving with flowers in hand at 12 noon in one of four nearby locations. At 1 PM everyone will parade from the Four Directions with MuZen giant puppets to Pulaski Park. While Stephen Katz underscores the event with layered cello music, Beth Fairservis will lead the group from sitting in silence, to conversation and community interaction about our relationship to the Four Elements: Earth, Air, Water, and especially, Fire. A dragon on a bicycle, a Polar Bear, Mother Earth, the Sun, and a Flying Tree will accompany the processions and bear witness to the events that unfold as we come to terms with what it takes to transform ourselves and our way of life.
