Northampton Grant Priorities and Guidelines
Awards Fund project proposals that will be completed between 1/1/19 – 12/31/19

In Fall 2017 the Northampton Arts Council awarded 23 grants totaling $11,950 in support of a variety of projects from funds allocated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s LCC program. The caliber of applications this round was outstanding, and we were unable to fund many worthy projects. The Arts Council received 40 requests for almost $35,750 of funding. Grants are awarded in the following categories: Dance, Film/Video, Literature, Mixed Media, Music, Theater and Visual Arts. A list of past grant recipients can be found here.

Our LCC funding priorities are: Northampton-based artists; Artists who reside in another city but whose project will be held in Northampton, Florence or Leeds; Work demonstrating the highest artistic/cultural merit; Projects that include a public component, such as an exhibition, literary reading or performance held in Northampton, Florence or Leeds that clearly benefits the residents of Northampton; Non-profit cultural and educational institutions that offer programs and events that bring arts and culture to a Northampton area audience; Projects that are financially feasible.
What Happens if You are Awarded a Grant this Fall?
Funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis only. Request for payment must be made by December 31, 2018. In addition, all successful applicants must properly credit the Northampton Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council for providing funds to the project in all press materials, posters, programs, announcements, paid advertising by putting the Northampton Arts Council logo and the Massachusetts Cultural Council logo on the press materials. Failure to do so will result in loss of funding! An example of proper credit would be: “This program is supported in part by a grant from the Northampton Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council” as well as adding both logos to the press materials.
