WHAT: Cancer Connection Campout: Summer Camp.

93.9 The River and Cancer Connection are gearing up for Monte’s 2018 Cancer Connection Campout: Summer Camp. The Campout raises funds for the Cancer Connection’s free non-medical services for people facing cancer and their families and caregivers.
“Monte’s theme this year is Summer Camp. Think s’mores, singalongs, and activities. We’ll have live music from local performers like Rock Voices and national acts like Cracker and Haitian dance band Lakou Mizik,” says Cynthia Tarail of Cancer Connection. “We’ll dance into the night with a funky soul dance party with DJ Snack Attack. All this fun and games is in service of a serious message: helping people facing cancer.”
The Campout begins at 6am on July 18 and ends around mid day on July 19. All are welcome to stop by the Campout any time to enjoy the music, hear the speakers, make a donation and meet staff from Cancer Connection. The full event schedule is available at wrsi.com.
At least 7 tents set up by peer fundraisers will pepper the Old Courthouse lawn at the corner of Main and Pleasant streets.
Cancer Connection “create(s) a safe haven to talk about your cancer journey, if you choose, and their bodywork offerings are invaluable, especially when dealing with current and ongoing side effects of treatment,” says Aleeta Sasarak, participant and volunteer. “While no one ever wants to hear the words “you have cancer”, it gives me comfort knowing the Cancer Connection will be here to support anyone should that fateful day come and they find themselves in need of their services.”
