Make a Tiny Prick

Northampton’s contribution to the Tiny Pricks Project

Tiny Pricks is a public art project created and curated by Fiber artist Diana Weymar in January, 2018. Contributors from around the world are stitching Trump’s words into textiles, creating a material record of his presidency and the movement against it.

Ms. Weymar has done this by using needlework on vintage and antique textiles (“traditionally relegated to the realm of craft and women’s work….because women hold these memories”.) Her goal was to accumulate 2020 pieces in time for the 2020 elections – this goal has been far exceeded. Word of this project has spread and she now is receiving work from others from all over the world.

Please participate in Northampton’s contribution to the Tiny Pricks Project by making your own piece and if you want, contribute it to the archives of the project.

A.P.E. will hold two workshops and provide a maker space for inspiration, materials and basic instruction on February 1 and 8th, 2020 from 12-4pm. We will then have an exhibit of pieces that have been completed on Arts Night Out on February 14, 2020 in the gallery.

We encourage people to start projects by organizing your own events. The more pieces we have, the bigger the impact of this project. There is much more information at http://www.tinypricksproject.com on instruction, ways to contribute, holding your own event and how to spread the word.
