WHERE:       Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, 220 Main Street, Northampton, MA

DETAILS:     Learn from a jazz vocal superstar!  Individual coaching sessions with Karrin are now filled, but you can still participate in the masterclass without receiving individual coaching. The cost is $20 to observe and $10 for students with ID. You can learn a great deal by observing how Karrin works with a wide range of singers to shape a solo performance.

Karrin Allyson is a five-time Grammy-nominated artist who has forged an extraordinary career as a singer, songwriter, pianist, composer, and bandleader. Beloved by musicians, concert-goers, and jazz connoisseurs around the world, Allyson has recorded 15 CDs. Her latest release is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Many A New Day from Motema Records. Her recordings showcase her astonishing breadth of repertoire, with jazz and Brazilian standards from composers including Gershwin, Porter, Monk, Jobim and more. With her strong blues foundation and her ability to deliver on the nuances of just about any tradition, Allyson is one of the most dynamic, versatile and accessible jazz vocalists on the scene.

This program is hosted by Valley Jazz Voices and supported in part by grants from the Northampton, Williamsburg and Amherst Arts Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
