The Valley’s oldest rock band is at it again. Join the
Young@Heart on May 7th as they explore all the different things
we do for love. The Academy of Music stage will become the set
of a night club called “The Love Club” where the club audience
become the performers. “The Love Show” will feature an
unexpected combination of songs – from Lizzo to Marvin Gaye
and Rihanna to the Buena Vista Social Club. Directed by Bob
Cilman and Julia van IJken this show explores more current
music than your typical Young@Heart show. As our newest
members become younger than the classic rockers we typically
cover, it’s time to explore the music from younger generations.
But no matter your age – love is always a hot topic. And so is love
that goes south – and everything in between. We will sing about
all the dimensions and experiences of love – and sex!

The chorus members are backed by legendary local musicians
including Mark Gionfriddo on piano, Joe Boyle on guitar, Chris
Haynes on accordion, Billy Arnold on drums, JJ O’Connell on
percussion, Jim Armenti on bass and Tom Mahnken on
saxophone.

The chorus members come from Hampshire, Hampden and
Franklin counties and are truly a regional chorus. They celebrated
their 40th Anniversary last year, a history that includes over 30
international tours, a highly acclaimed documentary film, work
with prison choruses that we founded and collaborations with
some of the finest youth choruses in the country and many
performances with the SciTech Band out of Springfield. The
average age of the chorus members is 85 and the minimum age
to join is 75.
