Photo-based Vision Club: Dancing with Ideas with Nancy Diessner

In these days of changed interaction and altered days, this online workshop seeks to give structure and focus for your imaginative energy in a supportive and small community. This workshop is not technique-focused but concept-focused using a phone camera (or other small digital camera) as your tool.

For the first few weeks Nancy will give the group a steady stream of simple and quick assignments to help develop a regular practice that over time can build to something more artistically rich and conceptually layered and meaningful. These initial assignments are intended to encourage risk, openness, freedom, and a lightness of touch: you will find yourself playing and dancing with these photo assignments. For the last weeks of the workshop, our energies will be directed to narrowing in on an idea or series of ideas that can—with instructor support and that of our small class community—develop into a project that is completed by the sixth week or is in its initial stage of completion. In language borrowed from poetry, this workshop moves from haiku or free verse to an epic poem or soliloquy.

You will need to download ZOOMto your device (laptop, computer, ipad or phone) to participate. It’s free to get a basic ZOOM account. Once you register, you will receive an email from the teacher with instructions on how to join the workshop via ZOOM.

Sliding scale fee: $100-$300 for 6 week class
